How does the Chrysler Pacifica avoid spinout?

The Chrysler Pacifica is the Chrysler entry into the minivan market. One of the most comfortable minivans, the Chrysler Pacifica is also one of the safer minivans. Indeed, in 2017, the Chrysler Pacifica won the IIHS Top Safety Pick in its class. One of the reasons was the high caliber of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Chrysler engineers added to the Pacifica.

The ESC is a computer-driven program that notes the direction the driver is sending the vehicle through steering wheel positioning. When the program detects car movement in a different direction than the one intended by the driver, the computer gently applies breaks to individual wheels to keep the Pacifica on track. The ESC reacts quicker than a driver and can select which brakes to apply, thus avoiding spinouts.
